5 Careers for Those Who Love Working from Home

It’s easy to see why so many of us got used to working from home.

It gave us the freedom work in comfortable clothes, we bid goodbye to the lengthy commutes, and there was less chance of our lunches going missing from the fridge!

So when we were all called back to the office, it’s understandable that some did not welcome the return with open arms. Having seemingly perfected the work/life balance we’d always dreamed of, suddenly the 9-5 commute didn’t look so appealing any more.

If your priorities have changed, then you might be in need of a new career. Here are five paths you can take that will let you work from home permanently.

1. Child Minder

Looking after other people’s children might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you love spending time with kids, this is a great career that can be done from the comfort of your own home.

There are a couple of steps you need to take to register to become a child minder, and failure to do so can result in a fine. But if you’re good with kids, and don’t mind a little mess, then this could be just the business to embark on!

2. Blogger

You might blog as a hobby, but with a bit of dedication, you could turn this into a profitable profession!

Starting out can be a little intimidating – after all, there are so many blogs out there, covering ever topic you could possibly imagine. But if you can find your niche, and write informatively and authoritatively on your subject, you’ll be able to grow your following.

3. Digital Marketer

With so much of our lives now existing online, Digital Marketing is an ever-growing industry.

And the best part? You can do this career from the comfort of your own home. Getting started requires skills, but luckily, universities such as ARU offer degree programmes you can apply for – plus, they’re distance learning, so you can even study at home!

4. Tutor

Tutoring is a great way to earn money without even having to leave the house. Whether you tutor in person, or online, you can use your expertise to give kids a bit of extra help in the subjects that they’re struggling in.

Of course, how much you’re able to charge for your services will depend on your experience, but if you’re a former teacher, or have teaching qualifications, tutoring can be a great way for you to leave the classroom environment behind.

5. Accountant

If you’re already an accountant, you’ll have proved that this profession is perfectly suited for home working – paving the way for all future accountants that like the idea of the home office!

As long as your internet is up to scratch so you can Zoom with your clients, there’s no reason that you can’t find a company that has moved to a permanent work from home model. Failing that, there’s always freelance – that way you’ll even get to set your own hours.
