5 Tips for Dealing with Mum Anxiety

Being a Mum is one of the most stressful jobs out there, no matter how old your kids are! Once you become a parent, you’ll become accustomed to the on-going anxiety that seems to be part of your life. Whether your child is still an infant, you’re dealing with a stroppy teenager or your bundle of joy is about to leave the nest, Mums will always worry about their offspring.

Fortunately, there are ways to alleviate your stress and minimise your anxieties. To reduce Mum anxiety today, take a look at these top tips now:

1. Create a schedule

When life seems overwhelming, it’s often because you don’t have a clear structure. With so many responsibilities, it’s easy for stress to get on top of you. With a well-planned schedule, however, you won’t have to worry about forgetting things. This will allow you to relax a little more and take the pressure off.

2. Recognise harmful anxiety

It’s natural and normal for parents to feel anxious but too much anxiety can have a negative impact on family life. If you feel you’re worrying too much or being too overprotective, talk about your concerns with your partner, family or friends. There is plenty of help available for parents struggling with anxiety, so don’t be afraid to talk to your GP either.

3. Practice self-care

When you’re a busy Mum, taking time out for yourself can seem like a luxury. However, self-care should be an essential part of your routine. Whether you spend an evening with friends, treat yourself to a bath infused with CBD oil or factor in 10 minutes of meditation every day, it’s important to focus on your well-being. By doing so, you’ll allow yourself to de-stress and function optimally.

4. Get more exercise

When anxiety is getting the better of you, try to increase the amount of exercise you’re doing on a day-to-day basis. It’s a fantastic stress reliever and the endorphins released by exercise will help to boost your mood and your confidence. What’s more – you can make exercise a family affair and involve your kids, regardless of how old they are.

5. Let go of worries

As your child grows, you’ll face a whole new set of worries with every milestone. However, recognising which things are worth worrying about – and which aren’t – will help you to be less anxious. Letting go of the things you can’t change or freeing yourself from unrealistic expectations will give you a new lease of life and help you to zap those anxieties once and for all.

Taking a Pro-Active Approach to Anxiety

The number of people who experience anxiety is growing every year, but a healthy self-care regime can transform your mind and body. By recognising when your anxiety starts to get out of control, you can take positive action to transform your outlook. By doing so, you’ll feel better mentally, physically and emotionally. Furthermore, you’ll be able to enjoy family life to the fullest when you’re in control of your anxiety.
