Five Activities To Do With Your Children

From getting active together, to baking or making a fort, there are many ways to get active with your children. In fact, a couple of the ideas below are perfect all year round, meaning you can do it even if you are stuck indoors when it’s raining. There are so many benefits of getting active with your children, the main one being that you get to spend some quality time together. If you are looking for five activities that you can do with your children, take a look at the ideas below. None of them require you having a big budget.

Painting

Why not get creative and paint with your children. Make sure you put a protective cover on the floor beforehand, buy some paint, and start drawing and painting things together. If you have multiple children have a competition on who can draw and paint the best picture. As well as having plenty of fun, this also helps with improving your children’s hand eye coordination and their mobility skills. It’s not an expensive thing to do and require very little equipment making it easy to set up.

Sports

Getting active with your children is a great way to spend quality time with them, but to also get active yourself. Depending on your interests, there are many sports that you can take part in. Maybe you’ve been watching the best FA cup finals of the 21st century which has inspired you to buy a football and have a kickabout. Alternatively, have your kids been going on about getting a trampoline and you’ve decided you will treat them to one and have a bounce yourself with them. Either way, whatever sports you choose to do together, you will enjoy some great family time and have some laughs along the way.

Baking

Getting together with your children and baking will help teach them about the different items in a kitchen as well as give them a better understanding about different foods and desserts. It’s also great fun and a way for you and your kids to do something together but not feel like it’s educational at the same time. There are many easy recipes that you can get them to follow, with you guiding them along the way. Why not get them to choose their favorite dessert and teach them to make that, and then cook them a delicious dinner to have before it in the evening.

Make A Fort

Bring down your pillows, blankets and bed sheets and build a fort together. Making a fort allows you to bond with your children whilst getting active and creative at the same time. Why not try to recreate certain sculptures to educate them at the same time, or just go ahead and see what you can all come up with. If you make the fort in a place you don’t spend a lot of time in, you can leave it out to give your children a place to retreat to when they want some time to themselves. You may also find that they try to recreate things without you being there, bringing in hours of entertainment – There are so many benefits to making a fort.

Movie Day

Buy their favourite sweets, let them stay up a little later and transform your living room into a movie theatre. Sometimes the best way to spend time with your children is to cuddle up and watch a film. Get them to pick a movie that they would like to watch in advance so they have something to look forward to during the week. Not only is this idea affordable, but it’s easy to do, requires little effort but will mean alot to you and your children. It’s also a great way to wind down after a busy week. You could always order in a take away as a treat if you wanted to take it to the next level and if you wanted to do it a couple of times during the month you could sign up to a film subscription service like disney plus.

There are so many ways to spend some quality time with your children, from playing a sport to a movie day or making a fort. Whatever you choose to do, the main thing is that you are spending time together and having a laugh. What activities do you like to do with your children?
