Vacation Ideas for Foster Families

Vacation Ideas for Foster Families

Planning a vacation for your family, regardless of the make-up and your particular personal situation, can be as stressful and challenging as it can be rewarding and fulfilling at the same time.

When planning a vacation for your foster family, however, there is even more pressure and emphasis on creating incredibly valuable memories this summer and every summer to come, especially if your children have previously not had a brilliant home life experience. Plus, there are a number of musts before you even start planning. You will need to gain permission from the local authority before you can take a child away. With this permission granted, you can then start thinking about what you want to do as a foster family.

So, with that being said, continue reading to learn about the top four vacation ideas for foster families.

Camping!

One of the most fun and entertaining vacation ideas for foster families and one that really does not have to cost you a small fortune is to take the entire family camping, either out in the wilderness or your local forest or woods.

If you are currently struggling, like so many other people across the breadth and length of the country and beyond, with your financial situation, then instead, why not set up camp in your own backyard! From initially setting up the tent together to cooking some camp-fire treats, your camping holiday will cost next to nothing and still be full of wholesome family fun!

Water Parks

With the sun in the sky, wearing your swimming gear and armed with a towel, a brilliant vacation idea for foster families this summer is to take the entire family to a water park.

You can spend all day swimming in the wave pools, using the slides and playing with the water toys, and you could even choose to spend one night or more in a nearby hotel or apartment. If you do choose to spend a weekend or more at the water park, it is more than likely that you and your family will receive extra perks in the water park, like accessing the park an hour earlier than the public.

Let Your Children Choose!

Another fabulous decision to make when thinking about where you and the rest of your family want to spend your valuable vacation time is to ask your child what they would enjoy and like to do together.

One beautiful idea is to use some of the fostering allowance to see where your foster child would like to go on a day trip, which will create valuable memories of your time together, as well as let them see how much you value spending time with them.

Take Them on a Nature Adventure

There is nothing like a family walk through the woods, or even better, across the open fields and roads out in the countryside. For foster families, this can be a great way to bond together and learn more about each other than ever before as you walk and converse.

You could even encourage your children to collect leaves to dry at home and draw up a checklist of what they may see on the nature walk; you could also make it a family competition to see who spots the most species of birds and wildlife.
