A Random Act of Kindness: Are There Any MOLOs in Utrecht?

[vc_row padding_top=”10″ padding_bottom=”0″][vc_column][vc_column_text letter_spacing=””] The Motherload® is all about women supporting women, lifting each other up instead of running each other down. Every day, we see women in our Facebook group reaching out to people they don’t really know and offering them a bit of love in a bleak moment. But even we were amazed by this fabulous act of kindness in our Facebook group yesterday.  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0″ padding_bottom=”0″][vc_column][vc_column_text letter_spacing=””]

It began with an appeal from long-time MOLO Claire Restall from Brentwood, Essex which read:

“NETHERLAND MOLOS – it’s a real long shot but are there any MOLOs from Utrecht? My good friend has been in intensive care in Utrecht hospital since Christmas Eve after going away with family for a Christmas break. She has now been moved to a ward but I wanted to try and cheer her up! X”

Within an hour, Catherine Drury, a fellow Motherload member and blogger who did indeed live nearby and was up for helping deliver some ginger beer and treats to the friend in hospital. The deal was on!

You might think that Catherine could possibly make it to the hospital the following day, or maybe the day after that, but a few hours later we were tagged in this post:

Catherine had completed her MOLO mission and Claire’s friend Nicola Margai from Muswell Hill, North London was absolutely astounded to receive a stack of Old Jamaica ginger beer, Kit Kats, Pringles and chocolate, delivered in person by a total stranger.

Nicola messaged Claire from her hospital bed to say “That is the most amazing thing that’s EVER happened to me. Thank you sooooo much.”

Cue an outpouring of love on the Facebook group;

“Bloody awesome work the lot of you. The world needs to#BEMOREMOLO

“Aw #MOLOpower strikes again”

“OMG…. this has made my day – bawling my eyes out here”

“This choked me up. Love the thoughtfulness and true kind spirit of you all. A friend in need is a friend indeed x”

“Yep, I cried. Such amazing people in this group.”

So long shots are worth a shot, you never know when a complete stranger might just help you help a friend, especially if they’re a MOLO – because as we all know, no MOLO flies solo.
